The Studio

OakTree Games, in brief.

One developer, Kyle, designs the systems, writes the code, finalizes every asset that ships and writes the devlogs, working part-time around a construction day job and a young family. There is no team, no publisher and no marketing department, so when the devlog says what shipped and what broke, that is the developer talking.

The studio builds in public, with a written devlog, a video devlog series on YouTube and an open roadmap.

Released

Infinite Initiative.

A free deckbuilding roguelike that runs entirely in a browser tab. The player queues a whole turn of cards and commits it as a single escalating combo, and the order of the cards is the puzzle.

It is the studio's smaller, faster project, shipped in about five weeks, and a free thing to play while Cosmic Scale is in development.

ABOUT OAKTREE GAMES

OakTree Games is a one-person indie studio building Cosmic Scale, a solo-built factory game set on real 3D planets you can walk and fly across, where a single mining laser is the first step toward wrapping a star in a Dyson swarm. Founded in 2025 and in active development since February 2026, the studio works in the lineage of Factorio, Stardew Valley, Satisfactory and Dyson Sphere Program, with a few deep systems that feed each other. Everything is built in public, with a written devlog, a video devlog series on YouTube and an open roadmap. Two smaller games are already free in the browser: Infinite Initiative, a deckbuilding roguelike, and Cc:, a first-person office sim built in four days for GMTK Game Jam 2026.

Paste-ready boilerplate. Quote it as-is.

Covering indie games?

Every press request gets a reply from the developer himself, which also means a reply can take a day or two, because it is one person, and the answer will be an honest one.
